Festo can do it with anyone

CMMT servo drives for efficient connectivity in machines

Connectivity at all levels to make machines even more efficient. Festo makes this possible with an automation platform that consists of various high-quality electrical components. The CMMT servo drives are easy to integrate due to their brand-independent connectivity with PLC, motor and mechanics. This makes CMMT ideally suited for advanced and challenging positioning applications.

The chain is as strong as the weakest link. For an electric drive it is therefore important that all components perform at their best but also that they are optimally coordinated with each other. For this reason, Festo has developed a complete range of proven electrical components that are optimally matched to each other.

Festo has two types of servo drives in its portfolio:
- CMMT-AS (230VAC/400VAC)
- CMMT-ST (24VDC/48VDC)
These two 'brothers' differ from each other in power, dimensions and price.

CMMT-AS

The compact servo drive CMMT-AS is an integral part of the automation platform from Festo. It is suitable for highly dynamic point-to-point and interpolating movements. With the Festo Automation Suite, the CMMT-AS can be put into operation in just a few minutes. The servo drive is available for communication with the most important Ethernet-based fieldbuses and can be integrated without problems into the PLC environments of various manufacturers. The software modules required for that PLC to integrate the CMMT into the application programme are also available.

CMMT-ST

The extra-low voltage servo drive CMMT-ST is even more compact and economical than its big brother CMMT-AS. It is specially suitable for less dynamic applications with powers up to 300W, where both point-to-point movements and interpolation are possible. The CMMT-ST can also be connected to a Profinet, EtherCat, EthernetIP and Modbus network. It is also identical to the larger CMMT-AS series in terms of control, using the same software modules. This makes it particularly easy to combine the CMMT-AS and the CMMT-ST drives in one installation.

The new servo drives CMMT-AS and CMMT-ST can be easily integrated into your machine environment. They communicate without problems with Festo's CPX-E PLCs, as well as with PLCs from other major manufacturers.

Highlights

  • These compact servo drives take up little space in the control cabinet
  • All connections are easily accessible
  • CMMT-AS can be powered in series
  • Integrated EMC filters
  • Efficient cooling (the drives can stand against each other)
  • Combine extra low voltage and low voltage drives for a cost and space effective solution

Siemens SIPLUS
The availability of machines and plants is a basic requirement for productivity. In order to minimize unplanned downtimes, it is necessary to detect the sources of error at an early stage. This is exactly where SIPLUS CMS Condition Monitoring Systems come in: they continuously monitor the condition of mechanical components of your machines – even throughout the entire plant. SIPLUS CMS therefore represents an important step toward the digital factory, where all the players including machines, products and people along the value chain will be networked. SIPLUS CMS working together with MindSphere – the cloud-based, open IoT operating system from Siemens – opens up completely new possibilities. The powerful cloud platform is designed for analyzing large quantities of data and enables machine parks all over the world to be monitored for service purposes in order to reduce their downtimes.
