Breemes and Lightelec join forces in Belgian electrical distribution.

With the acquisition of the Lightelec Group by the itsme Group, the Belgian family-owned companies Breemes and Lightelec are merging their capabilities to form the number three in the Belgian electrotechnical wholesale market.

The Lightelec Group, a family-owned SME, with a turnover of 65 million euros and 13 branches in Wallonia and Luxembourg, has been a reliable partner for professional installers for more than 25 years. Lightelec builds on long-term relationships, where respect for their employees, suppliers and customers is key. Breemes, another family-owned SME, with a turnover of 25 million euros and two branches in Flanders, has been focusing on the industrial segment for more than 15 years.

More than a business transaction

Kurt Colin, CEO of Breemes and also of the newly formed group: ‘The acquisition of Lightelec is not simply a business transaction; it is a meeting of shared values, complementary skills and a common vision. Both companies have built strong reputations in their respective markets, and by joining forces, we are creating a robust whole that is more than the sum of its parts. Breemes is known for its advanced technological and logistics solutions in an industrial environment, operating mainly in the Flemish-speaking part of the country.

Number three

Lightelec is a strong local player in the French-speaking part of the country, with expertise in the residential and tertiary sectors. Kurt Colin continued: ‘Both companies share a culture of dedication, customer focus and striving for excellence, but will continue to maintain their own strong identity and focus by market and customer segment.’ Albert Geron, CEO Lightelec Group adds: ‘Forming the joint group takes us to number three in the Belgian market and thus strengthens our position towards both suppliers and customers. As a family, we will remain active and involved in the group's business operations even after the acquisition with great pleasure and confidence in the future.’
